IT’S FINALS WEEK!!!

As you guys wrap up this year, I am really thankful for a great year of Chi Alpha and I am really looking forward to next year. Let me just take a minute to congratulate all of you on finishing out your year and wish you all luck this summer. This week at XA we will wrap things up by having some donuts and coffee. In case you didn’t see the FB post, I need to know what kind of Donuts you like so that I can get the right ones. But enough with introductions, let’s open the scriptures.

It’s Not About You

3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Paul is talking to a Philippian church that he was mostly happy with. However, he has this major instruction for them: Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Now, we can easily see the value of this. All of us would have it a lot easier if we just stopped looking out for number 1 all of the time. But this is tough. So how do you do it? You value others above yourself. How would you act around someone you saw as more more valuable than you (the person you love, your parents, the President, etc). Would you not defer to them? Would you not consider their opinion? Would you correct their grammar? Would you start a fight with them? I don’t think you would. So what the Bible is telling you to do is apply that logic to all of your relationships. Value other people above yourself and put their needs first. This is how you develop a spirit of humility.

I would love to hear your thoughts on Donuts, Humility or ΧΑ in general. Leave them below!

  1. XA is cool. Humility is essential. And donuts are the antithesis of nutritious, but I will still probably eat some tomorrow.
